Above, Taz and Crawdad turned the lawnmower box into a reading cubby (among other things. :P). Taz also continued to learn about her senses, finished Unit 2 in Singapore Earlybird A, learned that leaves turn colors and fall off the trees in the fall so the trees can go to sleep for the winter, spent time in her R&S workbooks, rediscovered she likes colored pencils, studied "polite," and decided nursery rhymes are very silly. :)
If you use your imagination, as Crawdad is prone to do, the three items above are not an orange, a banana, and some play dough. They are actually a rock, a timber, and clay. :P And what you're building out of them is a house sturdy enough that early American pioneers would have been safe from Indian attacks. This was one of his history assignments in Bigger, and he had a great time with it. :)
In addition, this week Crawdad:
*Completed lessons 36-38 in Singapore 4A and 2 pages of MUS Epsilon
*Read 3 days of his Day by Day Children's Bible and listened to me read 3 stories from Egermeier's Story Bible
*Completed 3 lessons in HOD history and 3 lessons in HOD science
*Read Tornado, did 3 days of GWG, 3 days of spelling, 3 phonics pages, 3 days of HWT, read an untitled poem by Emily Dickinson with Cub, and learned about chipmunks in his nature reader
*Passed his AWANA verses, listened to me read from The Tarantula in My Purse, worked on rhythm on the bass drum, and attended the ceremony to receive his orange belt
| Crawdad's science notebooking page. The colonists studied astronomy, so we did, too. |
The kids had a fun contest before their belt ceremony where they tried to strike a practice pad hard enough and straight enough to get it to go out the door. They had a great time with this!
This week Cub:
*Read 2 days in Leviticus, did one lesson in CLE Bible, and read one section of Boyhood and Beyond
*Completed 1A-1C in MUS
*Worked through 3 days of HOD history with extensions
*Completed 3 lessons of HOD science, 2 lessons of PAC science, and studied for next week's quiz
*Finished CLE 8 Reading Lightunit 1 and made a 97 on the test (below) and finished Much Ado About Nothing
* Took and retook his grammar test, whereupon we both came to the conclusion we need to revisit direct objects
*Completed 2 Spanish lessons, made 100 on his Spanish quiz, and did 2 days of Logic
*Cringed at "Saint George and the Dragon" by Paolo Uccello, read an untitled poem by Emily Dickinson with his brother, passed his Trek verses, practiced "Desperado" on the sax, and attended the belt ceremony to receive his yellow belt
| Oh, and he made us biscuits and bacon for breakfast this morning. :) |
