We started out by taking Monday "off." I'm not sure Cub thought he was really off from much, as he spent the morning doing yard work. :P We went to a movie (Puss in Boots, which was cute, if not spectacular) Monday afternoon and then Trick or Treating Monday night.

To the left, we have a pouting Crawdad because his mean ol' Mama insists that he learn to read the notes instead of always just playing by ear. :P Below, Taz creates her own numbers game. She was randomly picking up numbers and putting them on the board, then she would place the appropriate number of animals under each number. Smart girl! :)
Today I was inspired by a friend to start a running list of things we are thankful for. We'll each add one thing per day until Thanksgiving. I have also seen this done in a much cuter way--some folks make trees and add the things they are thankful for as leaves. We may switch to that. I'll talk to the boys tomorrow and see what they think. (Disclaimer: These are, obviously, not necessarily in any particular order, as I certainly love God and Papa Bear more than the lovely fall day. And I'm pretty sure Crawdad is more thankful for his sister than for crickets. :P It was just what sprang to mind at that moment.)

Cub finished his Unit 8 notebooking pages today.

Map work from RTR

Boy, they look excited to be doing independent seatwork, don't they? Giggle.
Crawdad used food coloring to dye the rice to make his wampum belt for art in Bigger Unit 8. Then he brushed glue on his paper and added the rice. He said this pic to the right of his work in progress looked like a mummy. I was thinking "purple blob" was more accurate. :P Taz, of course, had to watch. And poke the rice. Lol. :)

Awesome stuff!
ReplyDeleteI just covet those gorgeous notebooking pages.
(But my kids have huge writing so I don't know how they could ever work for us - LOL.)
I like your thankful board. ;-)
