Yard School

Carschooling is a well known phenomenon in the homeschooling world, one we participate in on a regular basis. We carschool on road trips, on the excruciatingly long drive to Co-op every week, and even (much to my children's dismay) occasionally while on vacation. It's one of my favorite things about homeschooling--it's both flexible and portable. :P

This week, thanks to the one thing I truly love about Southern California--the weather--we engaged in another of my favorite forms of homeschooling, what I like to call "yard school." It's pretty simple, really. You just grab your books, pull up a sunny (or shady if you are avoiding the glare) spot, and start school.

I think he's reading  history....I suppose I could ask the cat. :P

The grass got itchy. That is going to be one well-educated cat. Giggle.

Meet Ginger. She's a stray whom adopted us we adopted. Here she allows me the privilege of photographing her. Yeah, she's a cat, alright. :P

Taz does some cut and paste work in one of her R&S workbooks.

Taz wanted to put together a marble course. It took about 15 seconds for her brothers to get in on the action. :P They quickly decided they needed more pieces, as they couldn't make their apparatus nearly as complicated or large as they wanted. I'm pretty sure if I bought them enough pieces, I'd have a marble course that stretched halfway around the house. Oh well. There are worse things. :)
