Cub:
*Read about the brain; ears, hearing, and balance; and the fact that tongues lose taste buds as they age (apparently, the reason adults like alcohol, my 13 year old reasons, is that their tongues are old and dying. Interesting point, that. :P) He also learned about electromagnetic energy in his Co-op science class.
*Read 4 days of independent Bible and did 2 lessons in Practical Happiness
*Completed 4 Pre-Algebra lessons
*Did 2 days of HOD RTR with extensions, and chose to read his extension books on a third day, even though we weren't doing history that day
*Completed 3 lessons in grammar, took a test (and made an 87), and got through 3 lessons in CLE literature (this week was poetry--not his favorite)
*Did 2 lessons in logic, studied Proverbs with us, took piano lessons, enjoyed his Sax in the band, listened in on Humphry with Crawdad, went to Karate and boxing, passed his Trek verses, and got a perfect report at the dentist's office :)
The pose at the left is a running family joke. When Crawdad was about 6, he was waiting on me to fix his lunch (the baby was asleep and the older two had gotten their own lunches). Well, I got distracted upstairs and completely forgot. I started down the stairs about an hour later to discover him in this pose, giving me this look. He said, with all the indignance of a hungry 6 year old, "You FORGOT to feed me." The pose and the look have become a running family joke any time Mama's "just a minute's" take too long. :P
This week Crawdad:
*Read 4 days in his Day by Day Bible and listened to me read the parables of Jesus on 2 days
*Completed Horizons lessons 8-9 along with 4 MUS worksheets in math
*Did 2 days of HOD history
*Read about and notebooked owls, finished the section on beetles, studied a bit about snakes, and read about barnicles
*Did Week 28 of LLATL (I know, we're going out of order on this, but it's just grammar, and I'm trying to decide whether to continue this particular book or switch him to CLE like his brother), read 4 days in his BJU reader and completed the accompanying worksheets
*Listened to me read Humphry, did vocab and Proverbs during family time, passed his AWANA verses, loved his new piano teacher, played his french horn, went to Karate, and found out he needs braces (which we pretty much already knew)
Somebody was a little distracted during math on Friday :P
This week Taz did weeks 3 and 4 of SL PreK, learned to count backward from 10, enjoyed some Abeka worksheets (some of those in the car during the boys piano lesson :P), and had an evaluation by a speech therapist for receptive and expression language delays. She's doing great! The therapist did feel that another round of therapy would be beneficial, so we start that back next week.
Taz loves to "practice" with the boys when they play.
The boys playing their pieces together.
Mudd got in on the action. Certain Sax solos make him howl, which everyone thinks is hilarious. :P
Taz likes the Sax (above), but she really loves the French Horn (below). We are just amazed at how much sound she can get out of the thing. :)
Sounds like a productive week. That food story and the instrument photos are fun!
