There was independent work to be done by all. Above, Crawdad reads his Bible, while Taz works on Abeka workbook pages (right), and Cub does his favorite (NOT) subject: grammar (below).
| Yes, this is actually a normal reading position for him. Giggle. |
Crawdad learned about owls and created a notebook page containing what I thought was a really cute owl and what he thought were a few interesting facts.
I stumbled across a teacher store close to where the boys have band and purchased some cool new blocks that we hadn't seen before. They are H-blocks, and they can stack in some really interesting ways. We had trees, bushes, robots, and a castle (left).

Crawdad's science today was about snakes. We talked about how they are vertebrates, are cold-blooded, have poor eyesight and are hard of hearing. They follow scent trails with their tongues. Below, we have a couple of little snakes writhing around in the kitchen trying to scent out a plate of cookies.
Cub decided he made a lousy snake and opted for being an inchworm instead. :P
Then he gave up on finding the cookies and decided to chase his brother.
And I'm pretty sure that only in our house would the inchworm catch and eat the snake. :P
I also bought a few packages of stickers while I was in the teacher store. I think I had some help, unbeknownst to me, in the choosing of said stickers, as I have no recollection whatsoever of selecting taco-scented Republic of Mexico stickers for our stash. Nobody is even studying Mexico this year. Goofy kid. :)
