We Have a Problem

And it's terrible. No really. The problem is that someone will not let me get anything done because she keeps following me around wanting to read to me.

Yeah, OK, I admit it. That's really not terrible at all. :)

She's really getting into this reading thing, obviously. Actually, everyone had a pretty time in school this week.

Crawdad looked up Bible verses as part of his BJU reading assignment.

Splatter fell in the pool and couldn't figure out how to get out. :P

We worked on memorizing the Preamble to the Constitution.

The boys waited for friends to come for a visit. Crawdad was engrossed in his book (love it!), while Cub was laying in wait to pounce on his buddy. Ahh, the mind of teenage boys. :P

Above is Crawdad's poetry page. It's a little different this year, as all of his poems are in a spiral bound book with space to illustrate and copy. I'm not sure if I like this system yet. On the one hand, it's all in one place and looks pretty cool. On the other hand, that means his poetry isn't in his notebook with his other subjects, and since poetry is one of his favorite subjects, I sort of feel like it should be in the main notebook.

Poor Cub. :P He has a very mean Mama/teacher. He had a very simple assignment in Worldview. He only had to answer a few questions. They weren't hard questions, and I didn't even require him to write in complete sentences. But poor guy, he was having some serious focus issues that day, and what I do require is neatness. Right are his first two attempts at the assignment. Um, no, Kiddo. That doesn't count as neat. Below is what he finally was allowed to turn in. Fortunately, his day did get better. :)

History notebooking pages. Left is Crawdad's on Columbus and right is Cub's on Polycarp.

Awww. They're doing math. :)

Lunch while we work.

Taz works on more math, while Crawdad practices diligently to master his toughest piano piece yet.

And then on Friday, big surprise, we went to the beach. :)  It was not a good day to get in the water, as there was TONS of seaweed (yuck!), but we had a good time on the playground and in the sand.

She desperately wants to climb the little rope that is her size because Cub climbed the one his size all the way to the top. Not quite yet, baby girl. :)

Go, Cub!

Aaaand this is what happens the 5th (or was it 6th?) time you climb the rope barefoot. Ouch! He actually was done climbing, but a little boy had seen him go up and asked if Cub would show him how to do it. Halfway up....RIIIIP went his foot. On the upside, the kid he helped was a happy little guy. :)
Picnic

This seagull just amused me. He just looked so fat and smug sitting there on the recycle container, as if he were surveying all of his domain.

Alrighty, then. :P

The wind had some pretty intense bursts. Above is a pic where Crawdad didn't actually throw Lightning. He just let go of him and away that little stuffed critter went. It was fun to wait for a windburst and see how far Lightning would go. Next week, we head to Seattle. Looking forward to getting to hang out with Papa Bear on his business trip, see friends, hopefully catch the races (figure 8's!), and yeah.....I'm making them carschool. Hehehehee. :)
