Fort Day

Yesterday was Fort Day at my house. It started when Crawdad built the first one to keep Taz occupied while he cleaned their room. It was really just her little table turned sideways to block off part of the hall.

But it did come complete with a booby trap. :P

When lunchtime rolled around, he made her another one in the living room.

Apparently, Legos are what you do when you get too big to fit in the little ones' forts. :)

The final fort of the day (and the one Crawdad slept in. :))

There was some schoolwork stuck in the last two days somewhere, really. Right, Cub does some research for RTR. He also turned in the final draft of his approach paper, read his Bible, and did his Co-op physical science homework. Below, Crawdad works on math. He also did Bible, reading, and his Co-op physical science homework. Oh yeah, and we went to band and Co-op.

Taz is loving her SL PreK (although this pic is of Abeka worksheets, which she also loves). I gave up on MFW. It was entirely too much work for me to gather the books for science information (I would so much rather have them all included in the package and sitting ready on my shelf), and the TM really drove me nuts. I need all the subjects in one place. Maybe I'm just getting old (likely :~D), but flipping back and forth through the TM to get the assignments was an exercise in confusion and frustration for us both. By the time I figured out what we needed to be doing and rounded up all the books/supplies, I had lost her. The only way I could make it work in any sort of organized fashion was to copy all the assignments into my own planner, and really, who has time for that? :P

Taz absolutely loves to play with those silly shower buff puff things like the pink one shown right. She calls them her bows, and they aren't just bath toys. She's very into the texture of them and makes them a regular part of her games. She decided she wanted to add them to her paper doll game, so she drew them all (yes, she does own all 8 that she drew) and then cut them out. Above is the paper version next to the real McCoy. Pretty creative, I thought. :)

And this is why (pic above) we didn't get more done than we did. I just knew I had a missing SL PreK book somewhere, so I dug all of my boxed up books out of the closet....and then I got a little distracted going through them. The good news is that they went back into the closet in a slightly more organized fashion. The bad news is that I still didn't find the missing book. Oh well, I'm sure it's here.......somewhere. :P

  1. Oooh I'm drooling over that last pic with all of those boxes of books - LOL.

Too funny about Taz's bows. Isn't it funny the things our kids choose as favorites?

I love the forts. We haven't made forts in awhile - maybe we'll have to have a fort day soon, too. (Even I love a good hideaway) ;-)
