Yep, it's Monday

As opposed to Friday, or even Saturday, which would be when a Week in Review post would make sense. Except that this isn't really a week in review post, mostly because I have gotten really lax about writing down what we do during the week, and it's way too complicated (OK, maybe I'm just way too lazy :P) to try to recreate it all on Fridays. So this is more of a "random things we've done since Thursday" post. How's that for organized? Lol. I'm going to try to get back into the habit of keeping a running log of the week so I can do the weekly review posts again, mostly because I think it's cool to go back and look at them, and it's a fun way to document the year. :)

Taz is working in a pasta sensory box this week. She decided that manicotti noodles were Mama noodles and penne noodles were their babies. Can't argue with that logic. :P She also convinced Cub that she really needed to be a bird and fly (below). Hey, a piggyback ride on her brother beats the heck out of her jumping off of things in order to fly, which was our other option. (EEEK!)

Crawdad and a little language arts

This is Cub trying to master those pesky negative numbers that may yet be the death of us.

This is what happens when I get a little distracted with Taz and leave Cub sitting alone at the math table.

This is what happens when I decide to stop and swap the laundry after I'm finished with Taz and leave him alone at the math table for entirely too long. Giggle. :P

Crawdad's latest haircut shows his scar. The one he got when he was 2 and decided to play bull fighter with his brother. He couldn't see it (since it's on the back of his head :P), so he asked me to take a picture of it and show that to him. It made me chuckle the way it occurred to him to use technology that way. :)

Most girls put dolls in their doll minivans. My girl puts sensory balls in hers. :P

Cub's knight drawing

Crawdad's latest poem copywork and illustration
Taz drew the picture below, and then told me a story about it. I grabbed a piece of chalk and jotted her story down on the back (weird verb tenses and all :P). I love how the story has order and flow, a beginning and an end. That's HUGE for her.

Taz's story:

One day Taz was walking outside. Then she make a shadow and ride on her bike so Crawdad can chase her and ride on his scooter. Then she go SUPER DUPER fast. Then Crawdad was getting closer and closer. CRASH! The end.

She loves for her brother to chase her. I'm pretty sure the part about the shadow comes from Moonbear's Shadow, which I had just read to her. Lol.

  1. Great artwork by ALL of your kiddos!
I love the idea of a sensory tub. (I wonder if A & K are too old for that? I think they'd still love it)

I am drooling over that big whiteboard Cub is using. Did you make that?

    1. I bet the girls would still love the sensory tubs. Crawdad digs into ours with Taz. :P

That whiteboard is actually a table. (I call it the "math table.") Papa Bear bought it for me when we moved in, and I think it's probably one of the best presents ever. :)
