As Mondays go, today was a pretty good one. :) We were all happy to have Cub back home with us after his ski trip (where he had a fabulous time snowboarding, not skiing :P). Taz and Crawdad spent Friday while he was gone out enjoying sidewalk chalk....

.......which they then pounded into dust to make the Grand Canyon in a cup. :P

It was actually a project that Crawdad had done in his mini class on Geology at Co-op, but it had been accidentally dropped upon our arrival home on Tuesday. Fortunately, we owned sidewalk chalk, so it was pretty easy for us to replicate. A few freezer bags, some colored chalk, a couple of kids with a hammer, and viola! Grand Canyon in a cup. :)

The finished product. I'm not entirely certain why the Grand Canyon needed bunny ears, but it is Crawdad, so.... :P

All that outside time wore Taz out. She crashed in front of Dora the Explorer a little after 6pm.

Papa Bear and I made bread over the weekend. Well, OK, actually what we made was a giant cracker. Giggle. We obviously did something wrong. I'll go for Round 2 on Wednesday and see if I have any better luck.
Hard at work :)

Above, Taz works in her Singapore Earlybird math book. She also had a fun time playing the strawberry game with Mama (right). But I think her favorite part of the day was digging around in her rice sensory box (below). She had a grand time making "soup" out of the rice and small toys in the box.

Above, Crawdad adds Ben Franklin's kite experiment to his timeline. Below, a notebook page of a few of his favorite sayings from Poor Richard's Almanac.

He's being a Sandpiper from his biography on John Autobahn.

And now he's being a Sandpiper that's eating. :P

Grammar. Doesn't he look thrilled? Giggle.

Finished RTR notebooking pages and this week's Shakespeare page. We aren't quite sure why they colored in one of the pictures for us, but Cub said he wished they hadn't. It throws off the balance because it's so different, he says.

Taz and I talked about wind today, then she went outside and played with scarves to experiment with the wind. Isn't she the cutest little blur? :)

And finally...you know, I really don't see how he gets anything done like this..... :)

  1. YOu guys do the coolest things.

And...can your boys come over and teach Joe how to have patience with little sisters. He is seriously lacking in that department. :P

  2. I'm glad to hear he had fun snowboarding. I still don't see how that is fun. Sit in the snow, unbuckle, sit in the snow buckle up, fall down in the snow.....repeat

  3. Allison--think teenage boy. Sit in snow, buckle up. Hurtle downhill at insane speeds. Smack into flagpole. Unbuckle. Repeat. :P

Michelle--they look patient because I don't post pics of Cub dragging her to her room for timeout or Crawdad yelling at her for breaking his latest Lego creation. You're really only getting (the cute) half of the story. :)

  5. T-bought 20lbs of rice and some plastic art boxes at Costco. The little toys were just stuff we had already.
