Spring

Spring has sprung around here (or summer, really, since it was 103 the other day) and with it has come several warm weather activities.

Like....

Planting flowers

You've heard of Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary? Well, apparently, we have our own version, except his verse ends with "how does your Lightning grow?" :P

Water fun

Gotta love a man ingenious enough to think to use a leaf blower to fill the inflatable ring on the kids' pool. :)

It's not as pitiful as it looks that they are playing in the pool while Cub is finishing schoolwork. He is going into high school in 3 months while they are still in elementary, after all.  Besides, he joined them later. :)

Chocolate popsicles by the pool. Summer at it's best. :)

After his time in the garden, Lightning took a swim to get rid of all the dirt. :P

Band--Concert and Marching

Prepping for the Spring Concert. They did a really great job. :)

Beginning Band

She was riveted by their performance. Really. :P

Marching Band practice

Ready to march in their first parade

The band during the parade. I can actually see both the boys in this pic, but that's likely only because I know where to look. :)

Their first TangSoodo tournament

I didn't get many pics of the tournament, both because my camera kept taking really dark photos and because I was too busy watching. They were tons of fun to watch. :) My favorites were the board breaks, weapons, and Cub's jump front kicks. That child can get off the ground
Papa Bear gives Cub a pep talk before sparring.

Taz hanging out with her brother during lunch break. :)

Below, Crawdad does speed breaking. He broke 5 boards in 5 seconds and tied for first place. Go Crawdad! I didn't get pics of Cub's speed breaking, but he made a Black Belt who was holding his board jump. :) He took 3rd place, and they had him in the division with grown men. Go Cub!

Silliness in all their medaled splendor. :P

And last, but not least, a little family creativity

Papa Bear's favorite boots separated from the sole. Nothing a little Gorilla Glue and rope to hold it until it dries can't fix. Giggle.

They love Angry Birds so much, they made a real life version of it using stuffed animals and giant cardboard building blocks. I love it! Definitely creative. :)

  1. It looks like you all have been having a wonderful time!
I am jealous of your pool. I can't convince Paul to get us one (because our grass just finally grew back from where we had one 5 years ago!) :p
And LOL...Lightning sure leads an "adventurous" life. He looks very well loved, and that's what counts, right. ;)
