Easter!

Happy Easter, all! He is risen. He is risen, indeed. Thanks be to our God and Savior for the blessing of salvation. I cannot even begin to fathom His love for us, nor am I capable of either having or expressing enough awe and gratitude and love for Him and His sacrifice, because of which my eternity is secure. Thank You, Jesus!

I'm also exceeding thankful for the blessings He so generously showers on me here on this earth, like beautiful holidays with my precious, funny, fiesty kiddos.

We had a wonderful holiday. :) It started with the baking of my first ever homemade carrot cake. (Thanks to a fabulous friend for a fantastic recipe, with icing so amazing it would be listed in the Icing Hall of Fame, if such a thing existed. Why doesn't such a thing exist?)

I grated 7 carrots for this cake. I told Crawdad (the whole reason I was making carrot cake--his favorite) that I must love him an awful lot. :P Taz, of course, helped. She loves to cook. :) I realize the irony of making a carrot cake into a bunny shape, but we just couldn't resist. OK, so we're a little weird. This is not news. Lol.

I really have a thing for bunnies. They're just so cute!

Dressed for church

The Easter Cub :P

Hey! Aren't you supposed to be hiding those??

Kinda protective of his jellybeans, isn't he? :P

He made her a trail leading from the back door to the front yard. :)

OK, so I know that's a Shamrock bear. (His name, btw, is Bob Pat Rick. I have such goofy kids.) By the time I made it to the store, the cuddly selection was dismal. I know this guy is technically the wrong holiday, but he looked so forlorn in the bargain bin, and I knew that Crawdad had the right sense of humor to enjoy finding him in his Easter basket. Fortunately, I was right. Bob was a big hit. :)

He had to work for this one. :)

Genius

Yep, he's discussing the day's events with the Easter puppy I put in his basket. I love this kid. :)

Yeah, you've noticed that I had a teenage boy hiding the eggs, right? He wanted one that his brother could in no way ever find. Yes, he is, in fact, making a divot in the yard with a pickaxe. He stuck an egg in the hole and pushed the grass back down over it, and then told his brother there was an egg that he would never find.
The dog, coupled with my comment about him needing to be a groundhog to find the egg, gave it away.

Cub might have decided that he refused to lose the battle of the unfindable egg by sitting on the spot. Crawdad might have tried to move him, and, as his brother has a good 6 inches and 50 lbs on him,  might have given up and just lounged across Cub's back. Ahh, siblings. :P

Victory!!

I put a small Nerf gun in Crawdad's basket. Hey, at least he isn't shooting at me. :P

The vegetable dye didn't make very vibrant colors, but Cub got a kick out of painting faces on his eggs. :)

It's a clown. :)

He made.....Pinocchio.

I've mentioned that I have teenage boys, right? That is a sword that my oldest son is wielding in the picture above as his younger brother tosses an egg in his direction. Said egg is neatly cut in half in the pic below. I have to say, I was pretty impressed.

I have to tell on him just a little. :) He got this one with the first swing and bragged just a touch. Not much, mind you, just one sentence. He then missed the next two, apologized to the Lord for pridefulness, and hit the next one. I love direct communication like that. :)

Crawdad's weapon of choice is a throwing ax. It took him several times, but he's still got me beat. I wouldn't even have been able to hit the archery cube, much less the egg!

There was also a crime scene egg search in my living room involving a cracked egg in the floor and clues to locate it's assailant, but my camera ran out of battery. (Note to self: purchase additional battery pack. ) I'm pretty sure the quote of the day came during that activity, when Taz suddenly yelled out, "Cub! The dog is eating your crime scene!" And so he was. Which leads us to the catchphrase of my life: Never a dull moment. :)

  3. Thanks, Katie. :) Do I lose points for the fact that I usually make them use their own money?
