Back to School 2013

As it does every year, summer has (mostly) come to an end. The leaves outside my window are starting to change, Fall activities will be starting back up soon, co-op classes start in 12 short days, and the rain has found it's way back home.  We still have a couple of end-of-summer activities scheduled in the upcoming week, and the kids have had a truly awesome summer this year, but really, we do have to get back to work some time. No, really, we do. I'm certain of it.

Cub's schooling doesn't really look all that different this year than last....

.....except there were no cats in his homework last year....

.....and I don't remember him eating his homework (dratted Geometry :P).

There was time for chase in the driveway (above), a little model painting (right), and of course, the requisite weekly nosebleed (below). Poor Cub. Stupid allergies.

He was extremely pleased that I finally relented this year and allowed him to type out his written narration for history and glue it to the notebook page. It doesn't look quite as pretty this way, but the narration itself was better written because editing was easier (and he didn't have to try and fit his penmanship into that box), and he enjoyed the assignment so much more.

He made a 96 on his first Biology quiz.

Taz started learning about continents, early explorers, directions (heaven help the child that I'm the one teaching her THOSE :P), and continued on with reading and math. She also started her own independent Bible reading time (below).

She made herself her very own school subject check-off sheet. Like box-checking mother, like daughter. Giggle. :P

Drawing a snowflake to illustrate the Robert Frost poem we read in her language lessons book.

OK, I know this is a horrible picture of me (right), but Cub thought it was hilarious that the silly cat was so intent on being in the middle of what I was doing. Did the boy help his mother? Of course not. He grabbed the camera instead. :P

Crawdad did not start school this week, as he was attending his first ever youth camp. Lightning waited patiently for his return. :)

Vegging with a little Minecraft after camp pick up :)

Talking to Taz on her cup-n-string phone (and eating a rather large spoon of peanut butter :P)

And playing in the floor with the sister who missed him very much. :)

  1. I still don't think I've heard the story about how you became cat owners - LOL. Looks like you are off to a good start for school.
And man, I just love your table/booth - that looks like such a great work area.
