Musical Trees

OK, not really, but I drew a blank on a title that combined decorating our Christmas tree and the boys playing in their Christmas band concert, which are the two main events covered in this post. I guess I could have gone with Decorating Instruments or Tree Concert (Crawdad's suggestion :P) or.....anyway, you get the idea. So, while there are no musical trees here that I'm aware of, there are three pretty cute kids and a tree and about a gazillion decorations and a couple of instruments and even a necktie or two (much to Cub's dismay).

Goofy teenager :)

The pic on the right is so bittersweet to me. :) That's Cub's little hand from when he was 4 and his not-so-little hand now. I am so proud of and thankful for the amazing young man he is becoming, but oh, how I cherish those little baby hands from years past.

The kids and I decided that it would be fun to make gifts again this year, especially now that Taz is old enough to help/stay out of stuff. The pic to the right is what my sewing box looked like when I pulled it out and dumped it on the table. Um, time to reorganize?
She spent 45 minutes trying her hand at her own cross stitch project. She doesn't quite get the concept yet, but the child does possess persistence.

Bubble monster! I got distracted and overfilled the sink with dishwater, and Crawdad just couldn't resist making a creature out of the bubbles.

Taz making paper quilts while I attempt to sew Cub a cloth one.
Impromptu math lesson. She learned about the thousand's place and then spent the next 20 minutes rearranging numbers and reading them off to me.

Yeah, so can you guess what Cub's opinion of wearing a tie to the Christmas band performance might possibly be? Giggle.
Taz thought Mario was infinitely more interesting than the warm-up session going on onstage. :P

Headed up for their turn.

Waiting.....

Lightning was riveted by the performance. :P

Intermediate band

I found Crawdad! Cub was stuck behind a parent volunteer, so I couldn't get a shot of him. Not quite sure why the parent needed to position herself in the middle of the front row on centerstage, but oh well.

Concert tradition: Outback steakhouse after the performance. Yum!

All dressed up and looking good :)

Aaaand this would be them adding personality to the occasion. I love these people. :)

  1. Looks like a great show - neckties and all. ;-)

I love your tree. We just went wi't our artificial one this year. We arent' quite ready to 'break-in' our new carpet with sap and needles just yet.

And tell Taz she's not alone. Annie played on her Dad's iPhone for almost J&J's entire (2+hr) concert. It was just tooo long for her.
